"It's all in the genes." - Dr. Heather Ross

Our Mission

To make a meaningful impact on the treatment and long-term prognosis for heart failure patients (with a focus on inherited dilated cardiomyopathy) by raising awareness and funding for key current and emerging initiatives aimed at early diagnosis, improved treatment outcomes and, ultimately, finding a cure.

I was 41 years old when I was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy. That appointment will forever be burned in my memory – it was the moment everything changed. I went to the hospital that day an exhausted mother of three and I left a heart failure patient.

After I received my diagnosis, it was important to me to be involved and to assist with any ongoing research initiatives. After an initial meeting with a genetics counsellor, I was approached by several research coordinators.

Heart failure is a type of heart disease that occurs when the heart is not able to pump enough blood to meet the needs of the body.
